The Day the Devil went to Church

I read a poem about the day the devil went to church.

O!  The devil can’t go to church; he can’t be where Jesus is.  Yet Satan stood face-to-face with Jesus (Matthew 4:3).

O!  The devil can’t be where the Word is preached.  Yet Satan contended with the Word Himself and quoted the Scripture  (Matthew 4:3).

O!  The devil can’t be where God is worshiped and praised.  Yet Satan took Jesus to the pinnacle of the Jewish temple  (Matthew 4:5).

Satan goes to church each Sunday, and a million little devils with him.  One of these little devils might even be YOU!  Jesus said of the Jewish leaders in John 8:44 and 46:  You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do … And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?

Unless you have had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ by faith alone, and been born again, you’re not a child of God, even if you go to church.

Church attendance is wonderful; but the goal of Christianity has never been going to church.  We’ve mistaken religion about Jesus for relationship with Jesus.

If she won’t accept the gospel from your mouth, what makes the gospel more believable if it comes from the mouth of a preacher?  The goal is a personal relationship with Jesus by grace alone through faith alone, not walking into a building.
