The chorus of Annie Hawks’ hymn says,
I need Thee, O, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee!
There’s a blessedness in needing and being needed. To know that someone misses you, wants you and wants to be with you … needs you … is a feeling unlike any other. It is one of the evidences of a genuine and abiding love. It is a recognition of dependence and that you are incomplete without that other person.
As the deer pants for the water, so pants my soul for You, O God (Psalm 42:1).
