I Miss You

miss you

I miss you! Those simple words reveal dependence, need, and love. Even a few days can feel like forever.

Jesus spent every single day with a group of men He called friends.  He talked to them each day and was with them every morning, noon, and night. They ate together, played together, worked together, dreamed together. Then He told them that He was going away. Their reply?  “We don’t know where You’re going, but we’re going too!  We don’t want to be away from You!”  (John 13:31-38).  Can you hear the panic in their voices and see the fear in their eyes?

Jesus then shared what have become some of the most loved words in the Bible to many people.  Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me … I go to prepare a place for you.  And I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also (John 14:1-3).

Their best Friend was going away, but He said they needed to trust Him.  Trust Him for what?  Trust that He’d come back to be with them!  When He came back, they’d be together forever.  Which of us doesn’t want to be with our best friend forever?

The promise Jesus made to His disciples is a promise He makes to us.  Oneday, we’ll be with Him.  He hasn’t forgotten about us.  In fact, He’s busy building a future for us right now.  A future where we’ll live with Him forever. An eternity in Paradise.
