Early in his presidency, Ronald Reagan was being harassed by the Democrats in Congress over the poor health of the American economy. One of his political foes accused that the economy was “down on its knees.” Reagan replied, “At least we’re up off our back now.”
As children of God, we will slip and fall in sin, but His power and grace keeps us from ever being down on our backs.
The steps of a good man or ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand (Psalm 37:23-24).
