Looting. Rioting. Stealing. Theft. Destruction. Anger. Burning. Threats. Violence. Fear-mongering. Hatred. Racism. Disregard for the rule of law. Murder. Rage. Injustice. Inflammatory name-calling. Lawlessness.
These are all summed up in one foul word: S I N.
It is at night when the streets reveal the true state of men’s hearts. The cover of darkness is used to hide the reality of men’s hearts. Whatever else you may want to call it – these are all acts of evil men whose hearts are filled with the darkness of sin. Sin perpetuating more sin and then used as an excuse for even greater sin.
Yet these wicked and evil acts burning from sinful hearts onto the streets of America do not change the simple fact that God is good.
I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong (Psalm 36:1-4, NIV).
Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed (John 3:19, 20).
But you are sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober (1 Thessalonians 5:5-6).
