My son’s cat has adopted me as her master. Sigh. Why it works in such a way, I’ll never know: the one who doesn’t like the animal is the one the animal takes a liking to.
Fluffy gets fed twice a day, at 6 am and 6 pm. We walk to the where her food it kept, draw out a scoop of the dry mix and drop it into her bowl. Without fail, each time I feed her, before she eats, she stares up at me as if to say, “Thank you.”
This is why as Christians we stop and pray before we eat. It’s a small yet frequent reminder of what we are so prone to forget: God is our Provider. “Giving thanks” before our meals is our way of telling God how much we appreciate Him and what He provides.
Jesus commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled (Matthew 14:19-20).
