How precious is your life to you?
You protect your body from the elements and do what you can to prevent injury. You exercise to perform better and eat good food to prolong your life. You take medicine to cure sickness. Much of what you do is to preserve your life because it is valuable to you.
The older I get, the more time seems to vanish as a vapor; blown away like dandelion seeds in the wind. One day both you and I will come to the end of the cord of life. We will reach a moment in life – a moment beyond our control – when all we know will slip through our fingers despite our best efforts to hold on. Both at that moment and today, God’s lovingkindness is better than life (Psalm 63:3).
