Seeing Life as God Sees It

the meaning of lifeBeware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ (Colossians 2:8).

Most of us don’t realize there is a war for our minds. Hollywood, politician, co-workers, past experiences, music, and religious traditions all vie for control of how and what we think. We soak in all the messages we hearing but are generally lazy at discerning truth from error. We lack eyes to see life as God sees it.

My son came out of his room to announce, “The president of so-and-such company died. He was only 55.”

I asked Daniel why that was such sad news and he answered, “He was the president of a great video game company.”

With a different perspective I again asked, “Was he born again? If not, he’s doomed to Hell and that is the reason to be sad.”

We find time for listening to music, reading the inane details of someone’s day on Facebook, chatting with our friends, and assimilating various points of view on life. We unwittingly drink in the philosophies around us but don’t actively compare and contrast it with God’s perfect and infallible treasury of knowledge. It is in His Word that we learn God’s perspective on our existence.

If we could see life as God sees it … I can only imagine how living that life would be different.

  1. Yes, if only we would constantly see sin, the world and the other things of time as God sees it, we would truly live a little differently. But alas we are for the most part so earthly minded and are influenced by the vain talk of the heathen all around us. Maybe the Lord help us to be more heavenly minded.
