A Door

Daniel RiceAt the Cathedral of our Lady of Guadalupe in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is a special door. The photo to the left is of my son Daniel in 2009 standing next to the door. No, Daniel wasn’t a giant, the door is just very small.

I encountered a similar little door at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.  My guide explained that it was meant to keep marauders and soldiers from entering and looting the church from atop their horses or camels.

So many things come to mind when I see this photo of the little door.

Jesus said … I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved (John 10:9).

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction . . . because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it  (Matthew 7:13-14).

Not many wise, according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty (First Corinthians 1:26-27).

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20).

Entrance. Narrow. Humility. Opportunity. Life.
