A Divine Substitute

A Divine SacrificeFor God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

The idea that God gave His Son to die in the place of you, a sinner, is offensive. Some are even arguing that such an idea is nothing more than a case of divine Child abuse.

The Father put the penalty of my sins upon Jesus, God’s Son. He came into this world and was fully aware of His mission. He gave Himself for us (Titus 2:14), a willing substitute for the guilty sinner. The Saviour stood in my place.

In giving Himself, Jesus not only saved the sinner, He glorified Himself and the Father.
