A man popularly known as a Christian singer recently revealed that despite having a wife and two children, he is a homosexual. Marrying a woman was his way of hiding his “true” self because – in his words – “I was scared of what God would think … I was so scared that God would hate me,” as if God didn’t know the man’s heart.
For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
There is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of the Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:13).
This is an all-too familiar story. Pastors, rock stars, politicians … all claim to be Christians yet are so completely ignorant of basic Bible truth.
After his press release, thousands of other Biblically ignorant people encouraged him, thanked him, and reassured him that God loves him. They wrongfully reminded him that he was born a homosexual and that God was pleased that he could now live true to who God made him.
The Bible says of God, You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You … You hate all workers of iniquity (Psalm 5:4, 5).
The Bible says that every descendant of Adam is born a sinner. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me (Psalm 51:5).
The Bible also says that homosexuality is a sin. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites … will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9).
Whether one is born a homosexual or it is a learned sin – it is still sin. Sin must not be celebrated, encouraged, or excused, but repented of and saved from through faith in Jesus. Christ died to save us from our sins, not so we could continue in them.
Do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God (Romans 2:4-5).
