“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).
You may remember the school picture day episode of the Brady Bunch television show. Bobby put on his best suit and headed off with the promise of keeping himself clean. Somewhere along the way Bobby dirtied his clothes and went home to wash himself before anyone noticed he’d ruined his suit.
A novice at cleaning clothes, Bobby used extra detergent for his extra-dirty suit, dumping the entire box of soap into the washer. It wasn’t long before soap suds were bubbling out of the laundry room and into the kitchen like a blob from an awful 1950s monster movie.
There is a Man who can wash perfectly every time. His name is Jesus. He doesn’t wash jeans or 1973 polyester leisure suits, but people. He removes more than sin; He also removes the stains left by sin (Psalm 51:7)!
What must you do to have your soul cleansed from the stain of offending the God of the universe? There’s no need for a dry cleaner, Extra-Strength Tide, or sorting colors. Instead, trust that Jesus is sufficient to remove your sins by His death at the cross.
