We’re 41 days into the year and here in my little corner of Oregon it’s rained 25 of those days. No one has ever confused us with “sunny California”!
When my mother was a young girl, her pastor preached about the Bible truth of Christ’s future earthly kingdom. She was confused. If Jesus was going to reign for a thousand years, what about God’s promise to never flood the earth again?
God has kept His promise never to again flood the whole earth. That worldwide flood explains how the fossilized remains of sea creatures are found on the tops of the world’s highest mountains. Yet people dismiss the Flood evidence and deny that God will again judge the world.
God says that men will scoff at the idea that Jesus is coming again to judge the world. They forget that God judged the world for its wickedness once before. But this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which now exist are kept in store by the same word, reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:5-7).
We Oregonians are used to it raining most days from October through May. We can handle the 2 inches of rain expected today, but few of us have trusted in Jesus Christ and are ready for God’s judgment.
