We Preach Christ

we-preach-christFor we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake (2 Corinthians 4:5).

Some pastors may preach about Christ, but fewer actually preach Christ; often, it is self being preached. The sermon is about what we can get, what we can be, what we must do, or what we can achieve. The message is tied to what we get out of God in Christ. This is not preaching Christ, but a self-centered gospel of man.

Preaching Christ means that Jesus is the focus, the highlight, the point, and the purpose of every sermon – not you. Since the Scriptures are God’s revelation of Jesus to mankind, let us look for, and preach, Christ from the Word.

And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, Jesus expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself (Luke 24:27).
