The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. There is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:12-13).
We’ve all seen a sporting event where the referee either missed or miscalled a play. Maybe he was looking somewhere else or from his point-of-view didn’t fully see something.
In professional American football, there’s something called an instant replay. It allows the judges to go back and look at a play again from a variety of camera angles and not just the singular eye of the ref on the field. Since 1999, 36% of all challenged referee calls have been reversed. This means that no less than 1 out of every 3 calls based on human judgment is wrong!
No human judge is perfect. There are things he misses or misunderstands. Not so with God! He sees beyond our actions to even the intentions and motives of our hearts. The God who wields the sword of perfect justice makes no mistakes as judge, jury, or executioner!
The Bible says that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31). Rather than fall on His sword of justice and die an eternal death, fall to His mercy in Christ Jesus and receive everlasting life.
