“I’m just a bald and blind guy on a journey to Heaven. I may have to make this journey alone, but I will make it. I’ll finish my course. I’ll fulfill God’s calling.”
A graduate of Multnomah School of the Bible and Abilene Bible Seminary, Richard has a doctorate in ancient Biblical literature and is the author of numerous books, articles, Biblical commentaries, songs, and since 2011, this devotional blog, “Where Living Begins“.
Raised in a traditional Pentecostal church, he has served in Foursquare, Assemblies of God, and Open Bible Standard churches before beginning an independent, non-denominational church.
He is known for careful and theological expository preaching and teaching of the Bible in a systematic manner, endeavoring to rightly divide the Word of Truth. He believes that context is everything in Bible understanding. God gave us the Bible verse-by-verse so that’s how He expects us to read it, study it, preach it, and understand it.
He has preached in Kenya, Mexico, and the United States, where he presently pastors the Sellwood Community Church, in Portland, Oregon. Richard lives with his wife and son in a small community 45 minutes west of Portland.
These blogs represent his own thoughts, feelings, and understanding of God’s Word, and don’t necessarily reflect the official tenants of his congregation.
All blog posts quote from the New King James Version of the Bible, unless otherwise noted.
