A Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven 9.1.15

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page were next to the fireplace when Plant’s hand mysteriously began to write. His own account of the evening reveals that the words he wrote did not come from himself. “I was holding a pencil and paper … then all of a sudden my hand was writing out words.”

He and Jimmy Page, both avid disciples of Aleister Crowley who was known as “the wickedest man on earth” and forefather of the Satanic Church, wrote the music and lyrics to the rock anthem Stairway to Heaven using what is known in the occult as “automatic writing.” To this day, Plant is confused and cannot explain the meaning of the song his hand wrote under demonic control.

Rather than a “stairway to Heaven”, the patriarch Jacob had a dream of a ladder … set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the Lord stood above it (Genesis 28:12, 13). Jacob had run away from home to save his life and fell asleep in the wilderness. When he awoke from his dream he called the place the “Gate of Heaven” (Genesis 28:17), for Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it (Genesis 28:16).

Many have speculated about this ladder, but the Bible explains it. Jesus said in John 1:51, using the exact phraseology from Genesis: Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

The ladder in Jacob’s dream was an illustration of Jesus. He is the “ladder”, the gate (John 10:9),  the Way (John 14:6) to Heaven. He is the only means to Heaven and the Lord who stands above. Jesus is the only path from this life into eternity; from this world to the next.

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant’s Stairway to Heaven leads to confusion and eternal damnation; but Jesus is the “ladder” to eternal life.

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).
