God Doesn’t Save Devils

The town’s mayor was visiting the local mental asylum and was being escorted by the warden to meet the various patients lodged there and was being briefed on their illnesses. They came to the first cell and the warden said, This guy’s here cause he thinks he is Hitler the Nazi.

And they went on further and came to another cell and saw a man who had scribbled the wall with all sorts of mathematical calculations. And the warden snickered, Its really sad but this poor guy thinks he is Einstein.

And on and on they went, finally after visiting a few more cells they came to the last one, and there sat a man with a military cap on and a map in hand. . . . and the warden shook his said and said, This dude . . . he thinks he’s Napoleon, and quickly added, but he can’t be.

The mayor then quipped, Why not?

To which the warden retorted, How can HE be Napoleon, when I am Napoleon!

Yes, Paul may have been the chief of sinners in his day, but then Paul doesn’t know me – I am truly a Manasseh, the Gadarene demoniac and the thief on the cross all personified in one! We know that God doesn’t save devil’s, but there are times when I wonder if in my case he made an exception.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me (1 Timothy 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:10).
