The Pride of Quarreling

argument

The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts (Proverbs 17:14)

Some suggest pride is the father of all other sins. It may also be the sneakiest of sins.

Pride is the elevation of self: self’s image, self’s rightness, self’s opinion. Pride works to exalt self, but it’s also pride that works at knocking others down.

Pride knows best, so we must to prove we are right or at least that someone else is wrong. Once the dam is breached, it’s impossible to stop the flood damage.

Humility doesn’t need to be right. Humility doesn’t need to be noticed. Humility is love in practice; it suffers long and is kind (1 Corinthians 13:4).

Quarreling serves no purpose but to feed our pride and cause contention, none of which a follower of Christ Jesus needs on his resume.
